ABOUT SVKM'S

D. J. SANGHVI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

The SVKM, a Public Charitable Trust registered under the Societies Registration Act and Bombay Public Trust Act, has become synonymous with excellence, pragmatism, and vision in the field of Indian education. It runs educational institutes with exceptional faculty appointments, the latest & the best in infrastructure, and a conducive learning environment. From its humble beginning in 1934, the SVKM has been committed to the cause of providing high-quality education at various levels. It has over the past 85 years grown into a mega educational foundation, promoting global thinking, consistent with national interest, and at the same time promoting the values of professionalism, social sensitivity, and dynamic entrepreneurship.

SVKM’s Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering (DJSCE) was established in the year 1994. In 31 years, DJSCE has come a long way and has made its impact felt in the country and abroad. DJSCE is an Autonomous Institution, granted autonomy by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for 10 years, starting from the A.Y. 2019-20, till 2028-29. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited DJSCE with a CGPA of 3.18 out of 4, i.e., with an "A” Grade for a period of 5 plus years with effect from 18th of October 2019 and the same is currently valid. The college runs 08 undergraduate programs, 3 postgraduate programs, and 3 Ph.D. programs for the A.Y. 2024-25, all affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

ABOUT MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

DJSCE started the Bachelors program as well as Masters program in Mechanical Engineering in the year 2011 with an intake of 60 seats and 18 seats respectively. The intake of the Bachelors program was increased to 120 during the very next year and in the year 2022, the intake of the Bachelors program was further increased to 180 seats. In the year 2013, the college started the Doctorate program in Mechanical Engineering with an intake of 10 seats, which was later increased to 20. This program is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) with effect from the Academic Year 2018-19. The department features state-ofthe-art infrastructure, including well-developed laboratories for core courses like, Fluid Mechanics & Machinery, Industrial Fluid Power, Automobile Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, etc. The department continuously strives to develop technical as well as professional skills of its students by motivating them to have industry exposure through industrial visits, expert lectures, workshops, symposiums and seminars.
